Card Creating Sunday August 28, 2011

Welcome to Card Creating Sunday....
Today I am thinking about all of those who have been effected by Hurricane Irene....
I know there are many still without power today, some have lost their homes, valuable items, priceless items. I could not imagine having the special things in my life washed away by such a terrible force of nature.
Mother nature is such a crazy thing. It can provide the most beautiful rainbows at the end of a storm....
Today is not a day to count your losses, but try the harder thing to do and count your blessings. If you woke up today, it is a day to be thankful. I have a few health issues that effect me EVERYDAY. But I wake up and don't feel well. The first two things i think about are that there are others who wake up feeling worse than me everyday, and I feel so bad for them. I couldn't imagine waking up and feeling worse than I do, but I know so many do. The other thing that I think about is that I feel like this everyday in hopes that my daughter may never feel this way. I would even accept worse health if I knew it would keep her healthy everyday of her life. I would have to say the person that I think of when I look at my daughter and how healthy she is.... is my brother. He has MS and one son who has had 6+ surgeries with pins, screws, plates and everything in his hips do to a congenital birth condition, that son is 6 weeks younger than my daughter. His other son who isn't even two yet, just had a liver transplant a few months ago. The poor baby is in and out of the hospital almost every few weeks. My brother is an executive chef at a very old Country Club and is so busy and works non-stop. He loves his job but it takes it toll on him. His fiance (Melissa, who is on my DesignTeam) cannot get a job because the baby cannot be at daycare for risk of infection..... etc. So she is at home and has to not work but really carry the emotional load of her family. She also has a 8 year old daughter who has to live with her mom back and forth at the hospital for weeks or MONTHS at a time. I couldn't imagine being that little girl.  So when I wake up I think how he must feel waking up everyday with the pain of MS then to wake up and think of his kids.... I couldn't even imagine. So when I wake up and hurt, the first thing I think of is how blessed I am to wake up and have a healthy child.

So try to find YOUR rainbow today. Maybe some of these cards that the design team has made can help you do that !

Sharon made 4 cards! Aren't they adorable?
To see how she made them please visit her blog http://simplysweetbysharon.blogspot.com/

Tammy S used Doodlecharms to make this great back to school themed card. Her blog is  http://thepurplemuse.blogspot.com

the cards are just wonderful, and I hope your brother and his family remember that God heals! added you all to our prayer list! I hate to see children sick and hurt! People don't realize how precious health is until they lose it!

Everyone made such beautiful cards. I realy hope your Brother and his family will come through it all well. I understand what you say we think our pain is worse but in the end it's always someone else worse off then we are. We all need to pray for others that what ever the problems might be that they come through it a better person. That we all will come out of this in a better place. Lets all keep the Faith

first and most importantly - prayers for your brother, Melissa and for your nieces & nephews. I love the cards and happy cards indeed are so needed. I am raising a grandson (7) with Autism - I thought we had it oh so bad UNTIL I met others who were raising more than one and with multiple handicaps.. I truly am blessed! doris

All the cards are great tonight. I always forget I have the texture folders and seem to never use them. And yes we need to be grateful for our health when others have such hardships. My 2yr old great niece was just diagnosed with autism.

Great projects everyone! I enjoyed visiting each blog and seeing your projects in detail. Thanks Erica for reminding all of us that we should never take God's blessing for granted. We never have to look far to see others with bigger problems than our own. God is so good!

I just wanted to say what a beautiful, thoughtful post you just made. It is a blessing that we wake up everyday, period! I thank God for my infirmities (I have muscular dystrophy) for I know He has healed me. Although it doesn't show physically, spiritually is what matters most. May God bless you and your brother and his family. Also, God has blessed you with a darling daughter, plus He has blessed you with your creative talent which I see on here all the time. Keep up the good work! :)

I feel the same way you do about waking up in the morning and counting your blessings no matter how bad you feel. I have a severe neck injury and have chronic pain 24-7, and my husband is battling cancer for a third time, but you know what? We wake up in the morning, we get up, and we have a life. Pain and cancer aren't going to stop us!!

Your DT did a wonderful job on the cards!!

Thank you Erica for reminding us to find our rainbow everyday! I will keep you and your family in my prayers. My son, (now 29) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 12. As hard as this is for him, we realise many more have it much worse.
We have so many blessings to be thankful for.
Thank you for your inspiration to us all, have a wonderful day.

I just came across your blog via Tammy's during a blog hop and I am so glad I did. What lovely creations from all the design team.
I like you wake in pain everyday but always look on the bright side, for me it was an accident which could so easily of been my daughter so I am thankful for that each and everyday. I hope you, your brother and both families give strength and love to each other which helps mending so much easier.

Love all the projects today and the positive message from Erica. It reminded me that everyone has their burdens to bear and if I look hard enough, I will find others that have situations to cope with that I am lucky to not have.

Erica..so you suppose we could send some craft supplies for the little girl to have things to do while she is at the hospital with her mom on those days? It would make her feel special I think not to mention how fun to receive packages in the mail. I know I have enough surplus stash to share with an 8 year old..I mean with all that is going on within that family, bless their hearts, being a healthy 8 year old she must kinda feel like the odd man out at times..I'd like to brighten her day..if you think this is a good idea and can get approval to share the address please let me know..also , a card shower to your brother and his wife..Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make a difference and I'm sure we can pretty much afford postage for one card..I would love to participate , I love card showers..I am organizing one right now for my daughter who has been in three hospital and had two surgeries within the last month.. It is such a small thing to do to help someone else have a good day! Let me know!
