ReplyDeleteMy Mom enjoyed giving hints about our Christmas presents. One year for Christmas she gave her usual hints, and gave us a present that did not make sense with the hints that she gave, Then Daddy let the cat out of the bag and wanted to know if she gave us the other one yet.
ReplyDeleteWhen you click HERE it takes you to rafflecopter &past asks us to buy into it. Would love to comment with my favorite funny thing about my dad. So I will post it here I guess.
ReplyDeleteEven though it has been 12 yrs since I lost my dad, nit a day goes by I don't think of him. And it's hard not when my 10 yr old son looks & acts like his grandpa that he never met.
My father was always picking on you & being silly. I remember I had asked him for my allowance one night, and in front of my boyfriend he made me get down on all fours & begg for it. He got a kick out of stuff like that. And yes I did embarrass myself in front of my boyfriend lol who wouldn't for money lol?! It's those little things like that I miss now even as I grew up and moved out & married he always picked on me and there was always ways to make him laugh. You would have to know my dad & me to know the dynamics of our relationship ... he was a jokester & loved to laugh.
And my husband & I carry on that jokester tradition with our kids. It's a way to keep my dad's memory alive.
My Dad taught his daughters important things like how to change a flat tire and how to change our oil but he also taught us fun stuff like how to use his power tools to build birdhouses and jewelry boxes. Thanks to my dad, I can fix almost anything!
ReplyDeleteMy husband does many things with our kids. Their favorite thing is the ice cream and either cars (models for boys) or earrings (for girls) that he does every birthday. He makes sure to do this no matter how tough things are going. They love this special time with just him!
ReplyDeleteMy dad is a jokester. he like to tell jokes all the time. you need to have thick skin around him.
ReplyDeleteback in the early 70's when I was in high school my step-dad would find me scraps in his garage to use for crafts. He taught me how to use a circular saw so I could cut my own scraps from wood paneling to use for a wall art decoupage project for home-ec. He gave me leftover shellac for the finish.
ReplyDeleteHe never did anything on my projects but taught me to use his tools properly.
Another project was using old jars and bottles to make various items. He taught me to use a glass cutter and a drill to use a diamond bit for drilling holes in the bottles. I was way ahead of the trend to put Christmas lights in wine bottles and decorate the bottles. He gave me some of his old fishing lures to use for embellishments in the making of a lighted bottle for his den.
Happy Father's Day in Heaven.
My dad and I are best of friends... This year he built me a brand new chicken coop.. we garden together... I dont know what I would do without him :)

My dad has been gone now 16 years, and I still miss him. There was always something... be it him and all three of us kids sick over Christmas, or on our vacation camping trips... I was the oldest and only girl, and he never wanted to take me fishing or hunting, and did not show me how to fix flats or change oil (I wish he had)... We never were close, I think it was because he didn't have sisters, had a very strong male influence in his home as a child, and simply did not know how to deal with a girl, much less his daughter... However, we DID become closer the fall of 1995... I had learned how to fly fish, including tying my own flies... dad realized this was something we could share, and we went away for a week, just the two of us, the fall semester of my senior year of nursing school. By then, his health was really fading, so we spent the week just laying low, talking, fishing.... he was gone a year and a half later. That week was one of the most treasured of my life....

ReplyDeleteMy dad is a big jokester. He is forever playing a joke on someone or telling some kind of joke. Some are pretty good some are not but when he gets my mom all riled up it is hysterical.

One of the first stories that I remember about my Dad is at Christmas. My brother and I were hunting up gifts to give my Mom and Dad and of course being under 5 we had no access to money. So were going through the house and wrapping things up for them. When he opened his own tie he was so surprised and just gushed about it being so perfect. Then he turned to my Mom and asked her if he didn't have one just like it in the closet. That set the tune for our future Christmas gift giving. He got the same tie every year for 16 years!
ReplyDeleteThanks to my Dad I know more about cars than most guys I know...comes in handy when a mechanic at a garage tries to snow you for stuff you don't need!! Thanks Dad!!
ReplyDeletemy dad was a funny man who never stopped playing jokes on us kids. thanks so much for the chance to enter this awesome giveaway
ReplyDeleteMy dad & grandpa were always playing jokes on us as kids, even though my grandpa has been going for almost 18 years we still laugh when we talk about the joke he used to play.
