Extended deadling for Project Sunshine and Smiles for St. Jude's

Project Sunshine and Smiles for St. Jude's

Deadline EXTENDED until the end of AUGUST!

So for the Summer, I would like all of us and ALL of our crafty friends to make 5,000 cards for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Last month we works on cards for Operation Write Home for our soldiers to write in and send home to their friends and family. I had a goal of 1,000 and received over 2,200 cards! So this month I need all of the help I can get.
They would like cards that do not remind the children of their illness, but to tell them to "Hope they feel better soon" Also these cards need to contain ALL of the sunshine you can pack into them. I am going to call this my SUNSHINE and SMILES project. I have a goal of getting John Rich, in the Country Music world, to just acknowledge what we are doing here. I am still waiting to hear back from his staff. Hey a girl can have dreams right! I know these kids do. My husband and I support the Smile Train and Make a wish foundation.
I have decided to make St. Jude's Children's Research hospital our project this month. Two weeks ago my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It really brought cancer back into the forefront of my life.
I also watched this season of Celebrity Apprentice. John Rich made a great campaign for St. Jude's. So I would love your help with this project. These cards can be 10 of the same card, or different. Please limit duplicates to 10, it will make my personal delivery easier, Thanks in advance.
My daughter and I will personally be delivering these cards to the kids at the hospital. I cannot wait to deliver a car full of sunshine! I hope you can use the next few weeks to make AS MANY cards as you can and to get the word out there about this project. Please do everything that you can to help make 5,000 cards.
I have a high goal, but you can't go very far with your feet on the ground! So help me reach for the stars to help bring a smile to the faces of SO many children! I am beyond excited about this project. You are welcome to sign the card, even put your address in it if you would like the children to be able to write to you. Please get these IN THE MAIL to me By August 25, 2011 if you live in the US, if you live outside of the USA, please try to mail them by August 20, 2011. That is ALOT of time. Please don't wait until the last minute, work on some each week or day and think about all of the smiles that each of your cards will make! If you can only make one.... that is GREAT, everyone single counts, and will bring at least one smile! Thank you!

The only guidelines are please do not remind the children of their illlness, just general Hope you feel better, hope you have a wonderful day, thinking of you.... etc. Try to stay away from birthday or specific greetings, they will be a little difficult for me to deliver (but I can always leave them at the volenteer station and have them use them for birthdays.) Remember these kiddos might not make it outside much, so pack all of the sunshine you can into that card. Any size, boy or girl, 3-d or flat, any age from baby to teenager etc....the sky is the limit, Literally! Please see one of the cards that I have made at... http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/2011/06/ericas-part-2.html

Thank you in advance. I will be showing these on Ustream on September 2nd!
Happy Sunshine and Smiles!

Sunshine and Smiles Cards for St. Jude's Children's Hospital Blog Hop

Welcome to our blog hop.
We are making cards for a great cause!
Click from one blog to another and you will see what we have made for the children at St. Jude's Hospital.
After you see what we have made, maybe you can help and make a card or two. you can even buy a blank cards and put stickers on it... THAT IS IT, and that will make the day of on child who is spending a great deal of time in the hospital. in the smallest way you can really make the biggest difference for ONE child. Tell me that is not worth it.

ONE card, ONE child, ONE stamp.

That's it and you can make a buge difference and bring a smile to the face of a little one!
We have over 5 contininents, 10 countries, working on this project. We are trying to make 5,000 cards. That is so many I only have commitments of 200 cards. We have a long way to go to July 9th!
You can sign your name in the card, put your email in it, just write HELLO, anything you want. These will be given to the child/family with PROJECT SUNSHINE AND SMILES on it and a special website where they can 'meet' come of you. This is from a world-wide crafting group! Please tell a friend, a church, a social group, a co-worker... anyone you know to help our cause and to make a difference and bring a smile to the face of one precious little one. Babies, toddlers, grade-school kids, teenagers.... all ages of children. One card will make the difference for one child.... isn't that worth a few seconds of your time to make thier day brighter. Please look and see what we have made and if you would like see how you can help.

THANK YOU!!! Happy Hopping!
We will have a few more blogs to add to this hop, so check back over the weekend as the list below will grow.

All about the Cricut Circle.... from my point of view.

I would like to start this out saying that our economy is not what it was 10 years ago, BUT.... there are a few things to think about in this economy. Most people THINK they cannot afford a Cricut Circle membership. I would first like to start by saying... I do not work for Provo-Craft or Cricut, my facebook, blog and website are just from my mind and what myself and my design team can do with our Cricut Machines. I am a Cricut Circle member and I love it. I have a found a few ways to break it down and make it more affordable.
I have to tell you my favorite Circle cartridge is the Everyday Cricut Cartridge, LOVE IT! Now some of the circle members did not like the cartridges that they got, so Cricut DOES listen and changed the format for the upcoming year. Now instead of having a name, they will be Cricut Circle Year 2 volume 1,2,3,4. Or something like that... AND they will all have an imagine, font, tag, card, so they will have features for EVERYONE, wether you are a card maker, scrapbooker, cake decorator or just a paper crafter, the new cartridges will have something for everyone. Below are some samples of the images from two of the 4 cartridges from the first year.
So, before you say you cannot afford it, think about this....
On average I pay about $55 per cartridge from http://www.cricut.com/ PLUS as a circle member you get 10% off of EVERY order you place at cricut.com, PLUS you get reward points for your purchase and then the reward points in your cartridges that you purchase. So you get double reward points for every cartridge you buy.
Now Cricut has done a wonderful thing and instead of paying the whole year at once. You can pay quarterly, if you are having a financial rough time, on the quarterly payments, you can always cancel for that quarter, then start again later. I am sure they would not like everyone to do that, but they have made it nice to have that option. There is NO start up fee. It is a quarterly membership and you get a free Circle exclusive cartridge every 3 months. You cannot buy these cartridges anywhere else.
You get a special monthly Cricut Circle on-line magazine with free design files to go with your cartridges. You get invited to special Cricut Circle events, crops, and meet-ups. At these events.... they always have drawings and free items that you get. At the last Cricut Circle event that I went to I got  3 beautiful Cricut Circle Silk scarves. They also had a drawing and there were about 50 of us there and they gave away about 45 prizes to the Circle members. You get to sneak peek of the next cartridges the day before they are released to the public AND often we get to purchase cartridges a week or two before everyone else. I also purchased two of the awesome Cricut Circle Cuttlebug embossing folders. You cannot purchase these unless you are a member of the Cricut Circle. They are very cute.
There is also a Cricut Circle Blog, and it has SO many amazing projects with the new and older cartridges. I have seen some of the most amazing projects made with other cartridge and it makes that older cartridge back up into my current top 5 cartridges. It gives the EXACT cartridge, what image it is, what size it is, how to do it, what paper was used, what techniques were used! ALSO they give you the files so you dont have to do the work, it has all of the right sizes and everything on the file for you, you dont even have to figure out which key to press and which size to make them it! On the Circle message boards, members share what they have made with the cartridge and how they did it. It is great!!! I have 'scraplifted' many of the projects and ideas from there. It is a great place to get inspiration when you are in a creative rut. .... So is my facebook :) There is a wonderful group of creative crafters, who bring positivity, encouragement regardless of level of talent, and great ideas to 'scraplift.'
So from my point of view, the Cricut Circle is somewhat affordable if you break it up into quarterly payments and if you already purchase one cartridge every 3 months anyway. The quarterly price was $79.99, this year it is $69,99 and you get a free EXCLUSIVE cartridge, that most people pay over $100 for on online auction websites (e-b*y). Well I am already typically paying AT LEAST $55 per cartridge, so you are paying an extra $15 for all of the other perks AND 10% off of every order, Circle events, DOUBLE reward points, you get them when you make a cricut.com purchase PLUS the ones that come in your cartridge, the monthly Circle Magazine, cricut/gypsy files, the circle events, the Cricut circle blog and exclusive Circle message boards.
Did I mention that the 3rd Thursday of each month Cricut has Hello Thursday, the monthly new cartridge release? Well as a Circle member you get WOW WEDNESDAY! We get to see them all the day before AND the most amazing and creative examples of projects that Cricut has made from the new cartridges. I LOVE what they do with the cartridges. I think the Circle design team truly showcases the best features of each of the new cartridges, the day before anyone else gets to see the images from the cartridges! If you do not want to do the monthly payment you can join for $250 this year there will be even more perks for this upcoming year! My envy and future dream is to be among the amazingly talented staff of Cricut.
I do not work for Provo-Craft or Cricut, my facebook, blog and website are just from my mind and what myself and my design team can do with our Cricut Machines.
For current Circle members you can renew for ONLY $199 and get 3 months free of the Cricut Magazine (that is a $54 value alone)
On July 2nd my website will launch and be filled with tons of Cricut resources. They are all free and I make no money on my website. It is just a great place for Cricut Lover's to get inspiration, share creativity and to positivity encourage our friends to share. Wait until you meet my design team and see what they can do! I have beginners and members that are on other 'popular bloggers' design team. I think I have the most amazing and talented team and I cannot wait until you meet them and see what they can do!
Everyday on my blog you will see at least 3 creations that we have made using our Cricuts and Creativity! Stop by soon, there is so much to learn and share! This all begins on July 2, 2011!

Here is the link to sign up or read more about the Cricut Circle!
http://www.cricut.com/circle/sign.up.aspx

Talk about timing. I posted this before I got my Circle email... that was weird!
Don't for get the first weekend of every month we do a 100 Cricut cartridge blog hop (no there are not 100 blogs) If you don't know what a blog hop is, We make projects with our cricut, you start at one then at the bottom of what thye made, you click to go to the next. So you just click and look! That's it! That's a blog hop!

Ready for Cricut Imagine Industrial Glow?

So I ordered some new cartridges from http://www.cricut.com/ and was sent the wrong cartridge by mistake. They are shipping me the correct one, but they said I could just sell it, well you all know I can't sell something that I didn't pay for SO....... I asked if I can give it away here. As you can see they said YES, How wonderful is Provo-Craft?
This is the Industrial Glow Imagine Cartridge. It ONLY works on the Imagine machine, it does not contain art, so it does not work on the E2, or any of the other Cricut Machines. It has patterns and colors only. It is alot more feminine than it looks.

So please email me EricaCraftRoom@aolcom your favorite project you have ever made with the Cricut.
I will pick the winner at random. So between now and Friday June 17, 2011 at 8pm EST. No late entries. I will announce the winner on Ustream at 9:30pm EST. My Ustream name  is EricasRoom  Best of luck to everyone! Beginners have just the same chance as advanced users. Winner will be drawn at RANDOM. Everyone has the exact same chance. Only ONE entry per household.
Shipping will be $5.95, this is priority mail with tracking and delivery confirmation

Update for prize winners

Here should be the last of the unshipped prizes. I would love to get this out to you as soon as possible.
Everyone who has paid their shipping I send a facebook message with your tracking number.  If you have NOT received a facebook message about your prizes, you will be on the list below.  The list should be close to alphabet order by first name or Ustream username.
Please realize I am a one person operation so I do the emails, sorting, and packing… and my 3 year old helps sometimes, like last night I found a Panda in Autumn’s box that Bella wanted someone to have J I am not a company (YET) so this is pretty informal operation.  There are mistakes I am sure. Human error, so if you did not get something you won, I want you to get it, so just send me a NICE email saying that you thought you won “………..” But do not see it in your box. I will do a little research with the packing slips I have here and get back to you.  It might take up to a week to respond. I get about 1,000+ emails a DAY, seriously! So I do read them every day, but sometimes I do not respond right away.
I ship in clusters or groups. So I process shipping all at once, pack them up and send them out, then several more days (up to a week) before I process shipping again.
This is my NEW disclaimer for prizes. They can take up to 4-6 weeks for shipping. Remember these are FREE prizes, you just pay the shipping J I am one person to do all of the Ustreams, facebook postings and correspondence, emails, facebook message, creating Cricut Craft Room files, organizing blog hops, design team stuff, the Operation Write Home Project, now St; Jude’s Sunshine and Smile cards……etc. OHHHHH and I work about 13 hour days with almost an hour commute each way (on the days where I go to Bee Scrappy), I have a family and a 3 Year old…. And some health issues. Did I mention I like to make craft stuff too?  I LOVE to give stuff away, but again I am only ONE person and this is so much that has snowballed in 3 months. I thought I wouldn’t even have 50 facebook friends now.  Please be understanding and patient, I am so excited about all of my NEW friends and I want to make sure that no one is forgotten or looked over. I would love to give everyone a prize, but sometimes I can’t. I am going to do two prize sessions a month so prizes and shipping is a little bit easier. I will also do one contest on my facebook page a week for an additional chance at a prize. I am not big enough to use random.org to pick my prize winners, I do not even know how it works, and I think that would take a lot more time to figure that out too. I usually pick letters or numbers or something fun like that. I think I might always do it that way. I always write it down or announce it earlier in the week what process I might use. That way it is documented SOMEWHERE and everyone can see that there are no favorites or cheating J I do feel bad for my local in person friends, I sometimes pass them over for a prize because I do not want anything to think they won because they are my friend. I usually give them the same prize too, if I can. The other day Erin (From bee Scrappy) wanted to win the Cricut Birthday magazine, I told her she can’t win it, but when I see her I will give her one too J So I hope this all makes sense and gives you a little insight on to the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How’s of MY Cricut Craft Room.
Here is my shipping process, I confirm that your prizes are correct, I receive the shipping payment, and then I print the label…. THEN all at once I get all of the boxes together take the list with your prizes on it go from stack to stack of prizes pull out everything that goes in one box, close it and stick the label to it. I then have the stack there until I place a pick-up from USPS or UPS. That day I wait for them to come and I had them the packages, I do not set these outside as they are too expensive to risk someone taking them before 2:00 which is about when they get picked up. SOMETIMES USPS scans them when they pick up and sometimes they do not scan them until they leave my post office. So say best case scenario, you pay before Sunday morning. I print labels that night (and packing lists) then on Monday I put them together, then Tuesday around 2:00 they are picked up, I like to use priority mail so you have tracking and I have delivery confirmation…. USUALLY by Saturday you should have your package.  I usually do print labels on Sunday. So that is about the timeline for prizes.
Michelle, terry, autumn, Amanda and Autumn, you are getting a second package; you won too much to fit in one.  If you would like (but do not have to) pay the extra shipping they will go out on Tuesday, but if you don’t/can’t pay it, it will just a take a little longer to go out.
If you would like to pay your shipping and have it mailed on this Tuesday June 14th, 2011 your shipping cost is next to your name. If you cannot afford it, please email me and you will be added to the list. I have a list here of those who cannot pay it. I have 12 people on this list now. I spend about $20 a week of my personal money for shipping, so right now the last person on the list is about 4 weeks away from the shipping process. I am sorry about this, my mom was diagnosed with cancer last month and my extra money is going to her moving fund that I started. So this is why I can no longer pay all of the shipping. I do hope you all understand.  You are also welcome to pass on your prizes and then I can offer them to others to win in the future.
If you would like to pay your shipping and have it sent this week. Please send a PayPal payment, but do NOT send it as personal, please send it as goods or services. This way your address with be in there and it automatically goes into Auto-ship when I sign in. If you send it as personal I do not see your address and it does not go into my shipping queue. Some people were very nice and sent it as personal (so I didn’t have to pay the fee to accept the money) but this fee that PayPal charges me to receive money is already factored into the shipping price, as is tracking and delivery confirmation J My PayPal email address is EricaCraftRoom@aol.com or Erica@cricutcraftroom.com They are all attached to the same PayPal account, just in case people have my other emails they are all on the same account.
If you won a prize and you see your name here, please email me to confirm that you say this and if you can pay you’re shipping, or if I made a mistake….etc if your name is not on here or your prizes are not correct please email me EricaCraftRoom@aol.com thanks!
